The International Union of Elevator Constructors (IUEC) recently welcomed members to a Political Action Class at the International headquarters, providing an opportunity to explore how advocacy shapes the elevator industry and the safety standards that protect workers and the public.

The program brought together members from across the country for a mix of educational sessions and collaborative discussion, giving participants a deeper understanding of how legislative and regulatory decisions influence workforce development, jobsite safety, training programs, and the future of the skilled trades.

“Programs like this give our members the tools to professionally represent the elevator industry at local, state, and national levels,” said [insert quote if available]. “Understanding the policy process is essential to ensuring the safety, professionalism, and sustainability of our trade.”

The Political Action Class is part of IUEC’s ongoing commitment to member education, leadership development, and trade integrity. By equipping members with advocacy knowledge, the Union ensures its workforce is prepared to not only excel on the jobsite but also influence decisions that impact the profession, from apprenticeship programs to safety regulations.

Investing in advocacy education reflects the IUEC’s long-standing focus on training and professional growth, reinforcing the principle that strong leadership extends beyond the elevator shaft. Through programs like this, members gain the expertise to engage with policymakers, advocate for safer and more effective industry practices, and help shape the future of the skilled trades.
